Exchange Students and Special Programs
Offenburg University of Applied Sciences maintains numerous relationships with partner universities worldwide, and currently participates in the following programs: Erasmus+, DAAD Mexico, Malaysia Program and Baden-Württemberg-Scholarship Program.
Since 2018, Offenburg University also offers English-taught summer semesters in mechanical engineering for undergraduate students from Alabama/USA (University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, University of Alabama in Huntsville, University of Alabama at Birmingham, University of South Alabama/Mobile, Auburn University, Tuskegee University).
These classes will also be open to mechanical-engineering students on exchange from our other partner institutions.
Exchange students and DAAD scholars usually spend one to two semesters (maximum of three) at Offenburg University. International students interested in participating in an exchange program must first apply to their home university or the DAAD in order to be nominated for Offenburg.
• Language and Preparation:
As our Bachelor's degree programs are generally taught in German, it is necessary to have at least a "B2" competence level of German. To additionally prepare for studying and living in Germany, we offer a Summer Language Course before the winter semester each year. Before the summer semester, obligatory orientation daysare held to prepare for German language, culture and society as well as cross-cultural aspects.
• English-Taught Classes:
Only our international Master's degree programs of the Graduate School (CME, IBC, ECM, PDE, MPE and MBT) are taught completely in English. (In ECM, two to three lectures of the third semester are taught in German.)
A module handbook listing English-taught classes for exchange students is available and updated regularly. Bachelor-level students can choose electives from the Master's degree programs and core subjects on request.
• Study Programs:
Study regulations and module handbooks for all study programs at Offenburg University can be viewed on the websites of the respective programs.
Please see the Academic Calendar page for semester and lecture periods and other important dates.
