Statistics Under the Palm Trees: Field Trip to Valencia
Interested in statistics by the Mediterranean? A special program offered by the Department of Business takes you to the Spanish metropolis on a regular basis: the field trip to Valencia. In collaboration with the Universidad Europea de Valencia (UEV), you’ll combine challenging academic work with an international atmosphere.
Here’s what you can expect: Hands-on learning in the city
The goal is to give you direct access to international academic and professional environments. You’ll apply mathematical and statistical methods directly in a real-world setting:
Interactive learning: Using the MathCityMap app, you’ll explore Valencia and solve Monte Carlo simulation problems right on the spot.
Real-world business cases: For example, you’ll analyze the prospects for success of a startup that builds on the city’s historic silk production.
International standards: You’ll work entirely in English, using English-language software and specialized materials.
Academic Value: You’ll earn 3 ECTS credits for your successful participation and exam performance.
Your final presentation at the partner university
A highlight is the visit to the Universidad Europea de Valencia, where you’ll present your findings at a formal ceremony:
Presenting in English: You’ll deliver your final presentation to faculty members at the Spanish University—great practice for your future career.
International feedback: You’ll receive feedback from a whole new perspective and build your confidence in a foreign environment.
Personal development: The project fosters your ability to solve problems independently and boosts your self-confidence.
Here’s what our students say
“Solving statistics problems on the streets of Valencia and then presenting them to Spanish professors gives you an incredible amount of self-confidence.” “You
learn to apply complex models to real-world business ideas. The fact that everything is conducted in English perfectly prepares you for working in global teams.”
