From Adjunct Professor to Full Professor

Tobias Kopp, a native of Landau, studied Wirtschaftsinformatik at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (B.Sc., M.Sc.) and cognitive science at Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen (M.Sc.). He then earned his Ph.D. summa cum laude at the Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Armin Grunwald, writing his dissertation on trust in technology and linguistic framing in relation to collaborative robots in the workplace.

In recent years, the 37-year-old has worked as a Senior Digital Transformation Manager at esentri AG and Impact Strategies GmbH. In this role, he advised companies and organizations across various industries on issues related to digital and sustainable transformation, developed digitalization strategies, implemented measures for organizational development, and led digitally driven transformation projects. At the same time, Dr. Tobias Kopp played a key role in establishing the KARL AI Competence Center in Karlsruhe and leads the research group “People and Technology in Innovative Work and Learning Systems” at the Institute for Learning and Innovation in Networks (ILIN) at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences. In addition, he has taught at various universities in Baden-Württemberg, including the Department of Economics at Hochschule Offenburg, focusing primarily on AI and robot ethics.  

His research focus is on human-centered technology design and implementation, socio-technical and ethical aspects of human-technology interaction, as well as trust in and acceptance of technology, particularly in the context of digital systems, AI applications, and robots. He has published in numerous renowned international and national peer-reviewed journals.
