The Future Talk on the future of bicycle mobility, to be held in Building D, Room D 001, at Hochschule Offenburg, will focus on the documentary “Cycling Cities.” For this film, journalist Ingwar Perowanowitsch explored Europe’s pioneering cities in the field of bicycle mobility with his camera. For two months, he traveled by bicycle—from Freiburg through Paris, Ghent, Amsterdam, Utrecht, and Groningen to Hamburg and Copenhagen. On his journey, he sought out concepts for livable cities and spoke with urban planners, policymakers, and engaged citizens. The documentary shows how bold urban planning and consistent transportation policies can lead to a new quality of urban life.

Following the film screening, all interested parties are invited to a discussion on the future of bicycle mobility. Filmmaker Ingwar Perowanowitsch, Prof. Jochen Eckart, a transportation ecologist at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences and head of the “Region of Short Distances” subproject within the joint initiative “move.mORe – Sustainable Mobility in the Upper Rhine Region” led by the universities of Karlsruhe and Offenburg, and Michael Scherwitz from ADFC Offenburg will speak with the audience about how successful concepts from European “Cycling Cities” can be adapted to German cities and municipalities, particularly in rural areas. Admission to the film screening and discussion is free.
