International Students Looking for Rooms
Starting in the 2026/27 winter semester, Hochschule Offenburg will expand its international program offerings to include its first entirely English-language bachelor's degree in Mechanical Systems Engineering, as well as an international master's degree in Mechanical Systems Engineering. The combination of traditional Maschinenbau/Mechanical Engineering and digital technologies in both programs is appealing to both German and international students. This means that on September 1 and October 1, even more international students than in previous years will be coming to Offenburg. In September, some students will first take a “German Language and Culture” course, and starting in October, the semester will begin in their respective degree programs.
But by no means have all those aiming for a seven-semester bachelor’s or four-semester master’s degree—or even just wanting to spend a semester abroad as part of the Erasmus program—already found housing. While some of the new international arrivals will be housed in one of the Offenburg student residences operated by the Studierendenwerk Freiburg, many others are still looking for furnished rooms with cooking facilities or small furnished apartments—including shared apartments.
Given the continuing tight housing situation in Offenburg and the surrounding area, Hochschule Offenburg is therefore asking potential landlords in Offenburg and the surrounding area to contact Claudia Michel by phone at 0781/205-162 (mornings) or by email at claudia.michel@hs-offenburg.de.
