As part of a master’s program in Wirtschaftspsychologie, students at Hochschule Offenburg learn, among other things, how to present themselves and their ideas, identify target audiences and serve them accordingly, and deal with generational conflicts in companies. “Why not share this cutting-edge expertise with other students, aspiring entrepreneurs, and companies—and start a student management consulting firm?” some students asked themselves, and they put that idea into action with StuCon.

The registered association was founded back in the 1990s by students from the School of Business in Gengenbach. Now, the approximately 30 current members—led by First Chair Charlotte Feller, Second Chair Frederike Nopper, and Legal and Finance Director Marcel Krübel—offer their services to companies under this umbrella.  “We’re still mainly students from the Department of Business, primarily from the Wirtschaftspsychologie program, but more and more students from the fields of media, Informatik, and engineering are joining us,” explains Charlotte Feller.  Together, they have already carried out their first projects and, in cooperation with the Career Center, held workshops for those interested in starting a business at the University’s OGF Lab. StuCon’s portfolio also includes everything from in-depth analyses to customized consulting projects. These projects follow a clearly structured process that also leaves room for creativity: After initial contact and a needs analysis, an interdisciplinary project team is formed—usually consisting of 3–5 students from different disciplines, supported by an experienced project manager. This is followed by project planning and a kick-off meeting. “Ultimately, there should be added value for both sides: companies receive practical, actionable solutions, and our members gain valuable experience for their studies and careers,” emphasizes Marcel Krübel.

In parallel with their project work, StuCon members are also involved in expanding the association. They are constantly on the lookout for new students, external partners, and supporting members. “We’re also currently in the process of forming an advisory board of 12 to 15 members with representatives from the University and the business world,” adds Frederike Nopper.

Companies or aspiring entrepreneurs interested in workshops, innovation and market analyses, or consulting projects—or who would like to get involved with StuCon or become a supporting member—can contact the students via email at stucon@hs-offenburg.de.
