A group of seven people is standing in front of a warehouse between a blue van bearing the words “Logistics Research: From the Region—For the Region” and a green truck bearing the words “Roeder Solves Waste Problems.”

As part of the project seminar, the students were tasked with developing a solution for tracking roll-off containers.

On-site, various tracking and tracing technologies—such as RFID, Bluetooth Low Energy, and optical methods—were tested in practice to determine which approaches are suitable for a roll-off container tracking solution.

Thanks to the mobile lab acquired as part of the move.mORe collaborative project between the universities of Karlsruhe and Hochschule Offenburg, all technologies could be tested and tried out directly in a real-world environment under real-world conditions.

We are very much looking forward to the upcoming evaluations and results from this project seminar.

A heartfelt thank you, of course, goes to our students as well as to Julian Büche and Daniel Roeder for their openness, support, and the opportunity to put research into practice.
