Practice Meets Research: Wirtschaftspsychologie Projects Captivate Audiences in a Conference Setting
On January 13, 2026, Hochschule Offenburg hosted the closing event for the “Business Psychology Project (WPP)” seminar in the Bachelor’s program in Wirtschaftspsychologie. About 25 visitors—including students, project partners, and university staff—took the opportunity to learn about the results of this year’s project work and exchange ideas.
What made this day special was its format: To make the transition to the professional world more tangible, the event was designed as an academic conference. In concise five-minute pitches, the groups first presented their findings to the full audience before moving on to specialization discussions at the research posters.
Three projects, three real-world challenges
Throughout the entire semester, the students took responsibility for the entire project process—from the initial clarification of the assignment to a thorough evaluation. The focus was on three compelling research questions:
Caritasverband Lahr e.V.: Analysis of employer perception and benefit structures.
ClimaClic (Hubert Burda Media): Investigation of advertising effectiveness using eye-tracking and interviews.
HSO – LIAM Lab: Study on the awareness and acceptance of humanoid robotics at the University.
The students managed the entire process—from study design to presentation. “The conference format facilitated an exchange on equal footing,” summarizes Prof. Dr. Alexandra Kraus, who leads the seminar.

The project will be expanded next semester to include nine groups. Companies interested in a scientifically grounded collaboration can apply to participate starting now.
