Winning teams from the Ortenau regional competition advance to the FLL-DACH finals

At the qualifying competition—the FLL Challenge Southwest Semifinals in Rockenhausen, which featured a total of 17 teams—the two teams took first and second place, just as they had at the regional competition at Hochschule Offenburg. While Strg+R(obotics) won the Robot Game and received nominations in the Research, Core Values, and Robot Design categories, LEt it GO advanced to the quarterfinals in the Robot Game, won the Core Values category, and received a nomination in the Research category. This was enough for both teams to advance to the finals for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (DACH), which will take place on April 18 and 19 in Leipzig.

LEt it GO’s second-place finish also shows that the First Lego League isn’t just about the Robot Game, but also about the other categories—in this case, Core Values and Research. The team from Scheffelgymnasium in Lahr had already impressed the judges in these areas in particular during the regional competition at Hochschule Offenburg.
