Everything You Need to Know

Course Content

In this master’s program, the focus is on your journey. You choose the modules that perfectly match your research interests. The heart of the program is your individual research project. Here, you’ll become an expert in your field.

  • Free choice with priority: Right from your application, you decide what truly interests you. You select your favorites from a current list of projects and indicate your priorities. This ensures that you work on a topic that inspires you.

  • Personal mentoring: You won’t be researching alone. A professor will guide you as your personal project advisor throughout your entire program. This direct interaction guarantees you in-depth expertise and progress.

What you’ll learn:

  • Scientific methods: You’ll master the creation of research proposals, the writing of scientific reports, and the defense of your findings.

  • Professional communication: You’ll practice how to present complex data to different audiences—from a concise elevator pitch to poster presentations and PowerPoint presentations.

  • Management & Reflection: You’ll apply agile project management methodologies and learn to critically evaluate and further develop your own research work.

  • International Focus: Since research is globally interconnected, approximately 25% of instruction takes place in English. This will help you become confident in working with international academic literature.

Your individual curriculum:

You’ll put together a unique skills profile. In addition to the required modules on research methodology, you’ll select exactly the elective modules from a broad catalog that will advance your project.

Key Research Areas

In our four areas of focus, you will build specialized expertise and tackle real-world challenges in cutting-edge fields of research.

Key Research Areas

Human Motion and Emotion

Here, you’ll bridge the gap between technology and people. You’ll analyze movement patterns and emotional responses to develop innovations for sports, Medizintechnik, and rehabilitation.

  • Focus: You’ll specialize in Biomechanik, data science, and affective computing.

  • Practical application: Using state-of-the-art sensor technology and analysis tools, you’ll develop solutions that address multidisciplinary challenges in healthcare and industry.

Biotechnology and Environmental Sciences

You harness the power of biological systems to build a sustainable future. This track focuses on the efficient production of biotechnological products and industrial processes.

  • Focus: You will engage intensively with expression organisms, enzymes, bioanalytics, and bioprocess engineering.

  • Practical experience: You will develop innovative approaches for industrial and pharmaceutical Biotechnologie and learn how to conserve and efficiently utilize biological resources.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Become an expert in intelligent data management. You will further develop cutting-edge machine learning methodologies and apply them in scientific and industrial contexts.

  • Focus: Building on Python programming and deep learning, you’ll learn the latest AI algorithms and put them into practice.

  • Practical experience: Through direct involvement in ongoing research and industry projects, you’ll learn how software development really works in interdisciplinary teams.

Communication Technologies for the Internet of Everything

Shape the connected world of tomorrow. Here, you’ll explore how devices, sensors, and people can communicate with each other securely and efficiently.

  • Your focus: State-of-the-art communication technologies and network structures in the “Internet of Everything.”

  • Your practical work: You’ll work at the interface of hardware and software for networked infrastructure.
