In Building B, Room B012 (doors open at 2:00 p.m.), this time the program features the exciting lectures “AI—Dumb or Smart?” and “Microorganisms—the Little ‘Jack-of-All-Trades.’”

First, Prof. Dr. Jürgen Seitz will explore with the participants when artificial intelligence (AI) is smart and when it is dumb. Together, they will then examine why this is the case. Finally, everyone will brainstorm ways to make AI smarter.

Afterward, Prof. Dr. Christiane Zell will take participants on a journey into the world of microorganisms. These were the very first living organisms on Earth and are true all-rounders. Without technical aids, these tiny yet vital organisms may not be visible, but they are part of every human being and the environment. Some can cause illness, but others—and there are far more of them—keep us healthy, preserve the environment, or provide many delicious foods.

During the break between lectures, participants can look forward to interesting demonstrations and hands-on experiments organized by Hochschule Offenburg, the Edeka IT Foundation & Co. OHG, and Meiko, as well as drinks and snacks. There will also be an activity focusing on electrical phenomena. At the end, all participating children will receive a Kinder-Uni certificate.

Registration for the Kinder-Uni opens on Friday, July 3, at 6:00 p.m. via the website https://events.hs-offenburg.de/e/Kinder-Uni/Juli2026. Be sure to sign up quickly, as experience has shown that spots fill up fast.
