GamesMarket Launches "IP Access" for Institutions in Partnership with Hochschule Offenburg
Access is made possible through the new IP Access Program, which GamesMarket—the long-established Munich-based gaming industry magazine—has set up for institutional partners and is now rolling out. The IP Access Program was launched by GamesMarket to specifically support universities in training professionals for the games industry. The goal is to strengthen the transfer of knowledge between industry and academia and to give students practical insight into current market developments at an early stage. This gives them easy, anonymous, and comprehensive access to all paid content, including the digital magazine archive and all other exclusive content from GamesMarket, starting with the special issue *Working in Games* as an e-paper, which focuses on entering the games industry.
“We are very pleased to have secured Hochschule Offenburg as the first partner for our IP Access program,” explains Pascal Wagner, Chief Relationship Officer at GamesMarket. “This collaboration makes it possible to provide young talent with relevant industry information from the very start of their studies and to optimally prepare them for their professional future. As a native of Offenburg, I am particularly pleased that we have found the perfect partner in Hochschule Offenburg and its Virtuelle Welten und Game Technologies program to launch our IP Access Program.”
The Hochschule Offenburg also views the partnership as an important step: “Many students aspire to start their own game studio after graduation, which means they’ll then have to hold their own in the market and in the games industry,” explains Prof. Dr. Daniel Görlich, head of the Virtuelle Welten und Game Technologies program. Having access to market data and receiving regular updates on important events even during the three-and-a-half-year program can be crucial to the success of their own studios. “The IP Access Program now enables our students to gain a business perspective on the gaming industry.” Petra Möhringer, library director and expert in licensing online resources at Hochschule Offenburg, adds: “Access via IP address is one of the most common methods for making electronic resources available university-wide.”
As part of the program, students and staff at Hochschule Offenburg benefit, among other things, from direct access to up-to-the-minute news, services such as special e-paper editions and industry calendars, as well as all exclusive Plus content—including features, interviews, charts, and market figures—without needing to register separately. With this partnership, GamesMarket is sending a clear signal in support of the next generation of academics and plans to expand the IP Access Program to universities throughout Germany and Europe in the future.
