The taster course offers lectures and hands-on projects

During the fall break, students can explore all the academic programs offered by Hochschule Offenburg.

During the fall break, the four departments at Hochschule Offenburg once again invite high school students to attend exciting lectures, gain hands-on insights into the labs, and talk with students and faculty. Those interested can explore the fields of Electrical Engineering, Medical Engineering and Computer Science, Maschinenbau and process engineering, media, or business during the taster course on various days.

The Department of Business will kick off the program on Monday and Tuesday, October 26 and 27, at the Gengenbach Campus. On Monday, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Gengenbach Monastery, participants will first receive a general introduction to studying at the Department of Business. This will be followed by lectures on digital public management, change management, and sales management. On Tuesday, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:05 p.m., lectures will be offered on IT fundamentals, general business administration, and the fundamentals of Wirtschaftspsychologie.   

Also on Tuesday, October 27, high school students in Offenburg can get to know the Department of Maschinenbau and Process Engineering from 9:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. After the welcome, the program features two blocks, each consisting of three lectures, from which interested students can choose one. The offerings include energy balances, basic knowledge of Biotechnologie and sustainable technologies, followed by technical fluid mechanics, fundamentals of manufacturing processes, and general and inorganic chemistry. The event concludes with a hands-on project: the water footprint board game.

On Wednesday, October 28, the Media Department will present its wide range of programs to interested visitors in Offenburg from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The day begins with a presentation, a lab tour, and photography. This will be followed by lectures on practical IT security, game studies and game science, media business administration, accounting, digital media, databases, programming, and film aesthetics. After a group lunch in the university cafeteria, there will be information on starting your studies, another presentation and lab tour, as well as lectures on the topics of Fundamentals of Media Technology, Idea Generation/Content Development, and Sound; a workshop on Virtual Worlds; and a hands-on session on Animation.

Also on Wednesday, October 28, the department of Electrical Engineering, Medical Engineering and Computer Science invites you to come check it out from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. After an introduction to the University and the department, participants can choose in the morning between lectures on electrical engineering and Informatik and a practical project in which name tags are created in the Maker Space. Following lunch in the university cafeteria, there will be lectures on materials engineering, anatomy, and systems programming. The event will conclude with a feedback session.
