Everything You Need to Know
What's it about?
Do you want to develop technical solutions that benefit people and their health? Then the bachelor's degree program in Medizintechnik at Hochschule Offenburg is the perfect fit for you. Medizintechnik is technology for people—technology that inspires!
During your studies, you’ll explore two worlds: the world of medicine and the world of technology. You’ll be able to speak the languages of both worlds and use your knowledge to advance the state of research and technology.
Course Content
The curriculum for the bachelor's degree in Medizintechnik is designed to produce engineers who are capable of developing innovative hardware and software for medical devices, manufacturing these devices, and ensuring their quality. The courses are taught by recognized experts with industrial backgrounds in Medizintechnik. These experts have many years of experience in the development, manufacturing, and quality assurance of medical technology products. You should have an interest in the natural sciences, electrical engineering, Informatik, and medical topics, all of which are essential for designing new Medizintechnik solutions. In particular, the program offers courses that reflect important current fields of work in Medizintechnik as well as the research focuses of the professors in this field:
Cardiac Electrophysiology: Electrical stimulation, radiofrequency ablation, electronic cardiac implants
Neuroscience: Functional neuroimaging, intelligent neuroprosthetics
Neuroacoustics: Hearing acoustics, audio signal processing, cochlear implants
Materials Science: Medizintechnik process chains and implant technology
Computer-Assisted Medicine: Imaging techniques, image processing, surgical navigation, and augmented reality
The specific courses and content of the bachelor's degree program in Medizintechnik can be found in the Study and Examination Regulations linked here, as well as in the module handbook.

Of course, you also have the opportunity to take courses in the required-elective area that align with your personal interests. In addition, you can continue your studies consecutively with the master's degree in medical engineering at Hochschule Offenburg, thereby further enhancing your career prospects.
Perspectives
The medical engineering industry is considered particularly innovative, fast-growing, and promising in Germany. In Baden-Württemberg alone, there are currently more than 800 companies operating in the Medizintechnik sector (Source: bio-pro.de -> Service -> Companies in the Healthcare Sector -> Filter “Medizintechnik”).
The bachelor's program in medical engineering trains highly qualified engineers who are equipped to meet the ever-growing demands of this broad medical technology job market. Our graduates work in all areas of industrial medical technology:
Research
Pre-development
Development
Product and project management
Quality assurance and quality management
Clinical Trials
admission
Sales and Marketing
Clinical Product Service
Service and Technical Support
Training and Consulting
In addition, medical engineering professionals are increasingly found in hospitals and larger specialist practices, where they are responsible for all medical equipment and ensuring it is in working order. They support and advise medical staff and administration on the evaluation and procurement of new equipment.
