Course Content
In the master's degree program in Medien und Kommunikation, your inventive spirit is put to the test: We challenge and nurture your creativity and invite you to reflect on media-related topics from both artistic and academic perspectives.
Our goal: to help you become a leader who confidently and competently shapes social processes in the media world.
Thanks to our interdisciplinary approach, you have the freedom to choose your own areas of focus. Specialize in the following fields:
Media Design
Media Informatics
Media Technology
Media Business
And combine them, for example, with interdisciplinary components from e-learning and media in education and human resources development.
Whichever path you choose, we’ll equip you with the right tools.
Perspectives

Management positions in media companies (newspapers, radio, TV stations, agencies, etc.)
Project and product managers in online media, mobile media, e-commerce, social media, virtual reality, and education

Ph.D. studies and academic careers (empirical research, instructional design)
Self-employment in the media sector
Product development in the online gaming sector/app development
Various positions in film production (screenwriting, cinematography, directing, production management, etc.)
Concept development, copywriting, content creation, corporate communications (advertising agencies, SMEs, and corporations)
Media education and media pedagogy (civic education, museums, associations, media centers, churches, etc.)
Application
The program is open to all applicants who hold a college degree in a media-related field with a grade of 2.5 or higher. Applications must be submitted by two deadlines each year at the latest:
January 15 for the following summer semester
July 15 for the following winter semester
The application process can be completed step by step online via the application portal.
You do not need to have a final transcript at the time of application—you may apply with a provisional transcript. However, you must have successfully completed your degree by February 28 or August 31, respectively.
An online portfolio must also be submitted as part of the application. This should consist of a maximum of three samples of academic and/or artistic work. Please send these samples via a web link by email to zulassungsamt@hs-offenburg.de.
The portfolio may include samples of work in the fields of media design, drawings, websites, animations, films, audio, and so on. In the fields of media business administration (or media management) or media informatics, for example, it may include written papers, project descriptions and results, or completed software projects, including documentation.
The included work may be from your previous studies—such as theses for a bachelor's degree or term papers—but it may also have been created outside of your academic studies. If submitting team projects, please clearly indicate your own contribution.

Bewerbungszeitraum: bis zum 15. Juli 2026
Schritt 1: Registrierung und Online-Bewerbung
Erstelle dir zuerst ein Konto in unserem Bewerberportal. Du erhältst eine E-Mail mit deinem Passwort – bewahre dieses bitte gut auf. Sobald du deinen Zugang bestätigt hast, kannst du deine Bewerbung online ausfüllen und direkt abschicken. Drucke den Antrag auf Zulassung bitte aus und unterschreibe ihn.
Du kannst dich für bis zu 3 Studiengänge gleichzeitig bewerben. Drucke in diesem Fall bitte für jeden Wunsch den entsprechenden Antrag aus. Jede deiner Bewerbungen hat die gleiche Chance auf eine Zulassung. Bitte schaue dir vorab genau an, welche Zugangsvoraussetzungen für deinen Wunsch-Master gelten.
Schritt 2: Unterlagen per Post einsenden
Sende uns deinen unterschriebenen Antrag zusammen mit den weiteren Dokumenten (siehe Checkliste (PDF)) per Post zu. Falls du dich für mehrere Studiengänge (bis zu 3) bewirbst, brauchen wir für jeden Antrag einen kompletten Satz deiner Unterlagen in Papierform.

Wichtige Hinweise:
Vollständigkeit zählt: Wir bearbeiten deine Bewerbung nur dann, wenn alle Dokumente fristgerecht bei uns eingetroffen sind (Stichtag: 15. Januar / 15. Juli). Bei Postsendungen gilt der Tag, an dem der Brief bei uns ankommt, nicht der Poststempel.

Highlights from the study program
Werkschau by the Media Department
The Werkschau is an annual event where students showcase the projects they've been working on for several months. In addition to musical entertainment, a wide variety of artworks on display, and film screenings, there's also an Artist Alley where students sell their own creations!
