Under the theme “Building the Future and Creating Reliable Mobility Infrastructure,” the focus was on resilient transportation systems as well as digital and sustainable solutions for the mobility of tomorrow.

move.mORe, a collaborative project between the universities of Karlsruhe and Offenburg funded by the initiative “Innovative Hochschule”, was also represented with a booth. The team provided insights into its technology transfer work and demonstrated how research findings can be applied to promote sustainable mobility in rural areas.

The focus was on research-based methodologies and proven practical examples. Visitors were able to explore virtual showrooms and demonstrators on an interactive journey through the project. This clearly illustrated which approaches have already proven successful in the field and what experiences move.mORe has gained in collaboration with local governments.

A special highlight of the conference was the various expert forums held in the afternoon. The expert forum “Left Behind Without a Car? Addressing Mobility Poverty” moderated by Prof. Dr. Jochen Eckart from the Institute for Transportation and Infrastructure at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, addressed the question of how mobility can be designed in a socially equitable way.

In his presentation “Bringing Activities to the People - Concepts to Combat Mobility Poverty in Rural Areas,” Daniel Kubica, a research associate from the move.mORe project, presented concrete approaches for making services more accessible and bringing them closer to the people.

The regional conference demonstrated that the mobility transition cannot be achieved through technical innovations alone. Equally crucial are reliable infrastructure, tailored municipal strategies, and close collaboration between research, politics, business, and society.

For move.mORe, the event therefore provided an important platform to share experiences, forge new connections, and jointly discuss the next steps toward sustainable and socially equitable mobility in rural areas.
