No matter what you’re studying or how long you’ve been here—whether you’re in your first semester or already working on your master's degree. Whether you already have specific ideas about how you’d like to improve the University or just want to check it out.
We’re looking for people like you. Because we need all of you to make a difference.
In the Sustainability Working Group, we collaborate on exciting projects to make our environment greener and more socially inclusive and to tackle the challenges of a sustainable future.
Who are “we”? We’re a mix of students, staff, and faculty who want to make the University more sustainable. Are you interested in getting involved and learning about new things outside your major? Do you want to help make our University more sustainable?
Then you’ve come to the right place—the “Sustainability Working Group”!
Just send us an email and ask whatever you’d like to know: ag-nachhaltigkeit@hs-offenburg.de. We meet every two weeks to discuss the current projects we’re working on and develop new ones.
And if you’d like to dive even deeper, we also offer the Sustainability Working Group as a required elective, where we’ll support you with your own project and you can learn a lot about sustainability.

Required Elective: Sustainability Club
Students who wish to integrate their work in the working group even more deeply into their studies can now also enroll in the required elective “Sustainability Working Group” and will receive three ECTS credits upon successful completion.
The course is suitable for students with a bachelor's degree or a master's degree and can be taken in German or English.
As part of the course, students work on a project over the course of one semester; they may either propose their own project or develop one in collaboration with the Sustainability Working Group. The course is assessed through a term paper in the form of a final report.

Our Projects
Integration of the EinfachMobil ride-sharing platform into the UniNow app
The EinfachMobil brand brings together mobility services in the Ortenau region. This includes the commuter portal, which the University has integrated into the UniNow app. Students can now easily arrange rides to campus through the app—free of charge. The University is supported by the municipalities in the Ortenau Mobility Network.
Ecosia—the search engine that plants trees
Ecosia is a search engine that invests 80 percent of its profits directly in reforestation and forest conservation projects around the world. The rest is used, for example, for Ecosia’s renewable energy projects.

Fidget Toys Box for Stress Management in the AStA Student Union Office
Dealing with personal crises or problems during your studies? You can pick up free fidget toys at the AStA student union office and the study counseling office in A006 to help you cope better with stressful times during your studies. Check out the “Mental Health Resources” flyer for more places to turn to and support.
Implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN) 2030 Agenda promise a better world for everyone by 2030. The University is working to implement the SDGs in its day-to-day operations. In addition, the University has launched initiatives such as SDG Awareness Week and SDG Night, which featured, for example, various panel discussions on topics such as nutrition, the energy transition, and the bioeconomy.
