Magma Reaches the World Championship Podium Once Again
After a 0-2 loss to Dionysus in the semifinals, the team won the third-place game 3-0 against the Solidworkers.
Since 2009, Hochschule Offenburg has been teaching simulated robots to play soccer. The 3D Nao robots compete in numerous international competitions against teams from other universities and colleges around the world. The team led by Prof. Dr. Klaus Dorer has already won the RoboCup vice-world championship title several times.
The physically realistic bipedal robots have been taught to walk on two legs, stand up, shoot, and much more. The progress has been remarkable. Each year, the previous year’s team has been defeated by a margin in the high single digits. According to the RoboCup community, by the year 2050, real robots should be able to hold their own against human players.
