As part of the Zukunft.Lab.Schwarzwald (Future.Lab.Black Forest) event series, the Institute for Unmanned Aerial Systems (IUAS) at Offenburg University of Applied Sciences opened its premises and laboratories to employees and representatives from companies in the region in March 2026. The aim of the format from IHK Südlicher Oberrhein (Chamber of Industry and Commerce for the Southern Upper Rhine) and Hochschule Offenburg (Offenburg University of Applied Sciences) as part of the Zukunft.Raum.Schwarwald (Future.Space.Black Forest) Network is to make innovations tangible, strengthen knowledge transfer, and create concrete starting points for collaborations.

The event centered on a hands-on tour of five stations, where current research and development topics were presented in a clear and engaging way. In addition to insights into automotive radar systems and ground-penetrating radar, the agenda included demonstrations of drone applications and presentations of research areas in the high-frequency laboratory. Alongside the technical insights, personal exchange played a key role. At the subsequent get-together, researchers and participants had the opportunity to discuss specific use cases and explore potential collaborations.

The Zukunft.Lab.Schwarzwald at IUAS demonstrates how application-oriented research can be communicated in a practical way. Through the close integration of demonstration, dialogue, and networking, the format strengthens collaboration between universities and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and promotes the joint development of innovative solutions.
