Language Center

The Language Center of the University of Applied Sciences Offenburg offers general and technical language, study and job-oriented courses in up to 11 languages. Various certificates, such as the Certificate of Intercultural Competence and the DAAD Test, round off the offer.

Language Center

The Language training at Offenburg University complements your education in view of the growing globalization of the job market and also meets companies' practical needs for employees with international communication and intercultural skills.

The aims of language education for adults include:

  •     Improvement of individual language skills
  •     Subject-specific foreign language training
  •     Coping with everyday situations in professional life (e. g. telephoning, traveling, meetings, correspondence, job applications, presentations)


English, French, Spanish, Polish, Chinese and Japanese are offered during the semester. In French and Spanish, both beginners and advanced courses are offered. The program is supplemented by courses such as "Technical English" and "Business English". German as a foreign language (DaF) is taught to students of the international Master's degree programs.

Students and members of the Offenburg University of Applied Sciences are eligible to participate in the courses and DAAD tests of the Language Center (see FAQ's).

The Language Center offers courses in numerous languages and different levels. More informations are available on the page Course descriptions.

In preparation for a stay abroad, the Language Center regularly offers dates for the DAAD test in English. You can find further information on the page DAAD-Test.

 

The Language Center offers professors at Offenburg University of Applied Sciences the opportunity to have English-language research publications, for example in journals, proofread by suitable lecturers before they are submitted.

The documents are linguistically corrected and adapted to the typical academic jargon in English.

The Language Center reserves the right to reject unsuitable requests.

Lecturers do not hold office hours. For language-specific questions, they can be contacted either by e-mail (HS account) or after the course.

The Language Center is not responsible for the recognition of credit points.

Everybody who is enrolled at Offenburg University is allowed to attend a language course.

Staff members can also join the courses if there are places left (please get in touch with us before the course starts). However, they neither can attend the final exam nor get a certificate for the course.

 

 

No, you have to register separately for the final exam.

 

 

The Common European Framwork of Reference for Languages (CEFR) analyzes the progression of language learning.

It aims to make different European language certificates comparable and to create a scale for language learning.

MOREOVER

Moreover is a language-learning app for advanced English. All students at the Offenburg University can access the Lite Version of the app free of charge.

Moreover was developed specifically for students to expand their active vocabulary. With Moreover, students develop the ability to express themselves more eloquently when writing academic texts and giving presentations in English.

The Moreover app is available to download on the Google Play Store and the App Store.
