Summer Excursion 2015 to Aachen/Brussels/Trier from 25-28 July, 2015

This year´s summer excursion led a group of international students, coming from all our Master´s degree programs to Aachen, a town with a very important historical background. Due to the celebration of the 800 years of the precious Karlsschrein (Shrine of Charlemagne) in the Aachen Cathedral, it was possible for the group to admire the shrine from very close, as it was placed in the centre of the cathedral.

On Sunday, after a guided city tour in Aachen, the group explored the very special moor landscape of the “Hohes Vann” right next to the Belgian frontier. The next day the group visited the ATOMIUM in Brussels, a building originally constructed for the Brussels World's Fair in 1958. After a reception in the permanent representation of the Land Baden-Württemberg in Brussels, the European Parliament was visited before the group discovered the beautiful center of Brussels with its Grand Place and the famous Manneken Pis.

The last day of the excursion led the group to Trier, the oldest town in Germany. A guided tour taught the students a lot about the Roman life more than 2000 years ago and showed the very animated and international atmosphere in this very old beautiful town.

The group came back to Offenburg full of impressions, great memories and lots of pictures:
