June 12th, 9 AM–1 PM, Online Workshop: Academic Writing with AI – for beginners and advanced users, interdisciplinary, with Prof. Dr. Sarah Brommer, Language: German, Registration via google forms.

The use of AI tools in writing is currently a major topic of discussion: What opportunities do they offer for academic writing, and what limitations or consequences must be considered? In this workshop, we will discuss questions regarding responsibility and authorship on the one hand, and deal with the efficient use of various tools during the different phases of the academic writing process, including their pros and cons, on the other.

Participants will have the opportunity to bring in their individual concerns as well as test different tools themselves to experience how they can be applied. The goal is to critically reflect on the use of AI in academic writing, to acquire knowledge about using AI in the various phases of academic text production, and to be able to use AI meaningfully and responsibly for one's own scientific work.

Speaker: Prof. Dr. Sarah Brommer is an expert at the intersection of linguistics, writing research, and digitalization. As a Professor of Applied Linguistics (specifically writing research) at the University of Bremen, she significantly shapes the discourse on how we produce and understand texts in a technological world. Within the Virtual Competence Center for AI and Academic Writing (VK:KIWA), she leads the "AI Tools in Academic Writing" Think Tank.
